IriTech, Inc., a leading provider of iris-based biometric identification technology, products and services, was once again identified by NIST in the IREX I Supplemental Report as the most accurate iris technology for current operational data.

For operational data, the OPS dataset, the next best competitor exhibits error rates approximately 50% higher than IriTech.

Even with a commanding lead, IriTech continues to rapidly advance its iris identification technology and is pleased to announce a new SDK, with significant performance gains in both speed and accuracy. IriTech’s new SDK achieves speeds 10 times faster than the SDK it submitted for NIST IREX, and further improves accuracy. With the new SDK, tested against the only open dataset used in NIST IREX, the BATH dataset, FNMR is reduced by as much as 90%. These tremendous gains further widen the performance gap between IriTech and its competitors, and provide IriTech customers with confidence they are achieving the best results possible.

“The combination of our superior accuracy and fast, efficient processing provides best value to our customers, ensuring top performance at the best price,” stated Dr. Kim, President and CEO of IriTech, Inc. “We understand the importance of our customers’ missions and are honored to provide them with the critical identification tools they need for success.”

Through release of this advanced SDK and the recent release of a new family of high performance, affordable USB 2.0 iris cameras, IriTech continues to lead the industry in providing customers with a flexible and modular iris identification capability.

SCM Microsystems, Inc. announced that its thumb-sized SCR3500 SmartFold Personal Identity Verification (PIV)/Common Access Card (CAC) smart card reader has been approved by the General Service Administration (GSA) for use by U.S. government agencies and employees.

The SCR3500 SmartFold is ideal for on-the-go government employees that have notebooks without integrated card readers. It is a uniquely designed, small (only 48 x 20 x 12 millimeters when folded), portable contact smart card reader that will fit easily on employees’ key rings and in their pockets. Since it is so easy to carry around, government employees can conduct sensitive business anywhere, at any time, with full security. The reader is simply unfolded and inserted into a free USB port of a notebook. Then, employees can insert their PIV/CAC card into the reader to enable secure access to government systems and data.

The SCR3500 SmartFold is now on the GSA Approved Products List (APL) at http://fips201ep.cio.gov/apl.php, which means the reader is compliant with all Federal Information Processing Standards 201 (FIPS 201) and PIV/CAC card requirements, and is ready for purchase by government agencies and/or their purchasing agents.

“Government agencies need to comply with FIPS 201 PIV requirements for strong security and privacy, but not to the detriment of their day-to-day productivity,” said Dr. Manfred Mueller, chief executive officer of SCM Microsystems. “We designed the SCR3500 SmartFold to actually increase productivity. Its size and portability ensure easy and convenient use regardless of location, with the full security vital for government activities.”
