The Fujitsu MB86C30A Wins Top Honors for Innovative Advancement in Digital ICs, to be Featured at CES 2010, TechZone #30769

Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. announced that the company has won an “Electronic Products Magazine” Product of the Year award for its MB86C30A USB 3.0-SATA Bridge IC .

The editors of “Electronic Products Magazine,” a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers, evaluated thousands of products launched in 2009. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application, and substantial achievement in price and performance. The Fujitsu MB86C30A demonstrated success in the Digital IC category. Compared with USB 2.0 connections, the MB86C30A bridge IC provides an order of magnitude increase in data transfer rates from external storage devices such as hard disk drives to PCs.

“The MB86C30A supports the ultrafast 5-Gbit/s maximum data-transfer rate of USB 3.0, and includes an encryption/decryption engine,” said Jim Harrison, editor of “Electronic Products Magazine.” “The device includes an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) engine to protect confidential data without burdening the CPU of the host PC. The IC supports two AES modes: cipher block chaining and XTS. Both modes are ideal for hard disks, and three key lengths are supported: 128, 192, and 256 bits, with encryption and decryption processing at 300 Mbytes/s.”

The 2009 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2010 issue of “Electronic Products” with a cover feature and description of each product. The winning products also appear on the “Electronic Products” website, http://www2.electronicproducts.com/ProductYear.aspx. 2009 marks the 34th annual Electronic Products’ “Product of the Year” Awards.
