Icron Delivers Remote USB Functionality to Valens’ HDBaseT Uncompressed 1080p Video Platform

Icron Technologies announced the successful integration of its patented ExtremeUSB(R) technology with Valens’ HDBaseT(TM) technology for adding remote USB functionality to the HDBaseT whole-home uncompressed 1080p video distribution platform.

Valens’ HDBaseT technology enables long-reach wired connectivity of multimedia content via a single LAN cable, including uncompressed HD video, audio, Internet, power and controls over low-cost Cat 5 cabling up to distances of 100m/328ft. Icron’s ExtremeUSB adds remote USB capability to the HDBaseT system, allowing PC’s to be remotely connected to the TV with mouse, keyboard, game controllers, flash drive, webcam and other USB peripheral I/O support. The combination of the two leading technologies enables OEMs to have a solution for interactive long distance point-to-point PC connectivity, and full HD multimedia distribution via low cost cables for consumer and industrial markets.

“We are excited to be working closely with Icron, and demonstrating the performance synergies of ExtremeUSB integrated with HDBaseT,” said Micha Risling, VP Sales & Marketing for Valens Semiconductor. “Our joint demonstrations at CES will showcase how the combination of the technologies offers unsurpassed interactive video and remote PC functionality that is unique in the marketplace.”

“The combination of HDBaseT and ExtremeUSB offers a powerful platform for the combination of uncompressed 1080p video and true USB 2.0 at distances of up to 100 meters,” stated Brian Donnelly, VP, Marketing and Business Development for Icron. “The uniqueness of this solution is the extremely high quality video and support for all USB devices, providing both consumers and industrial customers a rich remote PC experience.”

Icron’s ExtremeUSB over HDBaseT technology allows OEMs to combine USB and HDBaseT in devices such as monitors, PC’s, CE devices, and USB 2.0 KVM Extenders. Applications for this technology include home connectivity, interactive digital signage, medical diagnostics/imaging, industrial automation, and thin client computing.

The Extreme USB over HDBaseT technology will be launched at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 7-10 and demonstrated at Icrons Booth # 36508, Upper Level LVCC South Hall 4 and at Valens’ Hilton Hospitality Suite # 2330.
