In the beginning of 2024, NEXT announced its first successful product integration of its China ID certified sensor solution. Shortly after, NEXT also confirmed it had received its first order for its China ID sensors. This achievement was a significant milestone for the company, as it classified NEXT as one of few biometric players eligible to participate in the top-tier security tenders. Following this milestone, the demand for NEXT’s Active Thermal® fingerprint sensor has also increased outside of China, especially in the global government ID sector where digital authentication and verification infrastructures demand reliable top-tier security.
Joshua Chiu, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales, South-East Asia at NEXT, expressed his enthusiasm:
“I am pleased to confirm this order which provides a proof point for NEXT’s strong market position. The lead times in our industry are generally long. Thus, it is always an indicator of trust and strength when our partners wish to proactively ensure the availability of our products and capacity.”
The market in Africa is growing due to digitization of public services that drives the demand for robust ID services, including the use of biometric authentication to ensure access to sensitive information. Mr. Chiu notes that interoperability to improve the citizens’ user experience and the efficiency of public services are also important market drivers.
Mr. Chiu concluded:
“Developing solutions that are easy-to-use and available to all citizens is crucial for governments that wishes to increase the adoption of biometrics in society. This is our expertise, and we are proud to see our cost-efficient solutions and unique technology contribute to creating real-life, positive impact for nations and government organizations on a worldwide basis.”
