LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of USB protocol test solutions, today demonstrated its Voyager protocol analysis platform interoperating with Fresco Logic’s SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) Extensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI) development platform at the SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference in San Jose. The availability of USB 3.0 protocol test tools and Silicon IP for Host and Device promises to accelerate product verification and market introduction of SuperSpeed USB devices.
The Fresco Logic demonstration shows interoperability between an xHCI host controller and a USB 3.0 device controller based on Fresco’s SuperSpeed USB Host and Device hardware development platforms. Fresco Logic engineers will use the LeCroy Voyager analyzer to help demonstrate USB 3.0 sustained data transfers of over 300 MB/s using their xHCI prototype. The LeCroy Analyzer transparently monitors USB Protocol traffic and uses the de-facto standard CATC Trace to illustrate host – device communications.
“Fresco Logic has been using LeCroy’s Voyager USB 3.0 test platform to aid bring-up of the new xHCI (Extensible Host Controller Interface) software stack on our SuperSpeed Host and Device Development Platforms”, stated Bob McVay, Fresco Logic CTO. “LeCroy’s expertise with PCI Express 2.0 has obviously helped them produce a very reliable solution for recording SuperSpeed 5 Ghz signaling.”
“As a market leader in USB test equipment, LeCroy is committed to providing early design teams with the most comprehensive tool set for validating USB 3.0 devices”, stated Mickey Romm, Director of Product Development at LeCroy. “LeCroy’s collaboration with Fresco Logic in the demonstration of USB 3.0 technology this week is considered a key milestone for USB 3.0 development and will ultimately help accelerate the roll-out of SuperSpeed enabled products.”
LeCroy (CATC) helped lay the groundwork for early USB 1.0 testing in 1996 and again in 1999 for USB 2.0 with its legendary USB Advisor protocol analyzer. With the introduction of USB 3.0, LeCroy’s expertise with testing PCI-Express Gen-2 enabled it to provide customers with a USB 3.0 protocol analysis solution that is fully compliant with 5 Gb/s signaling.
